Family studies in education

Family studies in education

The fact that the direction of «Family studies in education» appeared corresponds to the historical logic of the development of the programme «Sanctity of Motherhood» in whole. The main goal of this direction is to include the teaching of programmes related to family studies into the basic obligatory programmes at different levels and stages of education.

The core element of this direction is the support for different individual projects related to development, publishing and promotion of educational courses on family studies and firstly the teaching materials on «Moral grounds for family life for 10–11 grades» by D.Moiseyev and N.Krygyna. Currently the teaching materials are used by teachers in over 60 regions of the Russian Federation. In 2012 the programme supported the publishing of a set of teaching materials for the educational course «Family studies for 1–11 grades» by Penza authors E.Kupetskova, G.Redya and I.Smirnova.

At present one of the main tasks of this direction is to provide support to the programme of the Russian Academy of Education titled «Family studies in the education system of the RF» (2016–2020) realized as part of the long-term «Programme of development of the Russian Academy of Education». In the framework of this specialized programme of the Russian Academy of Education the annual monitoring of development of teaching courses on family studies in the subjects of the RF will be conducted. But first of all the main task will be solved: development of the single concept of the «Family studies» as a subject, method of expertise of teaching materials for the subject, development of the concept of preparing the teachers for this subject and similar development and research. The support of the programme of the Russian Academy of Education meets the strategic interests of development of the programme «Sanctity of Motherhood» in the mid-term as long as it is the only possible way to achieve the goals of the programme «Sanctity of Motherhood» in this direction — to include teaching of «family studies» at school into the basic obligatory programme (currently it has optional status of additional education).

Therefore in 2016 by request of the Russian Academy of Education the Centre of National Glory allocated the targeted financing for development and launching of the mechanism for annual monitoring — the systematic collection and presentation of the data about teaching the programmes on family studies for pre-school , school and additional education in the subjects of the RF which will become the first stage of the programme of the Russian Academy of Education on family studies in education. The implementation of the project in 2016 will not only provide the statistical and analytical information but also will make it possible to draw certain conclusions and estimations, to develop recommendations for management bodies in the system of education. All of that will be presented in the special report when the project is finished by the end of 2016.
