About the program

Alexander Nevsky

The Foundation of St. Andrew the First-Called and the Centre of National Glory together with the Moscow Patriarchate and the Ural Ore Mining and Smelting Company implement the programme “Alexander Nevsky”. In 2021 the 800th anniversary of the birth of Prince Alexander will be celebrated on the federal level. This is an important milestone in our historical memory and civilization identity. In 2015, by the order of Chairman of the Government of Russia Dmitry Medvedev the heads of the programme are included in the Steering Committee to prepare the celebrations in 2021 dedicated to 800th anniversary of the birth of Saint Blessed Prince.

In his life Alexander Nevsky served in the political, military and diplomatic spheres and always followed the Christian commandments. As part of the programme “Alexander Nevsky” a great number of initiatives are realized to help our compatriots address to the life and heritage of Alexander Nevsky. The Programme is headed by His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia as Chairman Emeritus of the Board of Trustees.
